Volunteers dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Iron Hill Park for the enjoyment of everyone.
Volunteer Opportunities

The Friends of Iron Hill Park depends on volunteers to raise funds for programming, and to provide important Park stewardship functions such as trail maintenance, litter patrol, and invasive species remediation, to keep the park beautiful for everyone.

There are many volunteer opportunities involved with the Friends of Iron Hill Park including:

 

Trail Maintenance

Supervised by: Pat Fett, Friends of Iron Hill Park

When:  2nd Saturday of the month, 9-11 am, beginning June 2010
Where:   Meet at the pavilion area of Iron Hill Park.
The work:  Clip, snip & drop branches & other obstructions overhanging established trails.
Dress:  Heavy work gloves including cuffs if possible; work shoes. Depending on temperature, long sleeves & pants or similar protection is recommended.
Equipment:  Hand held (one or 2 handed) snippers
Optional:  Small bow saws. NO power tools. 

 

Invasive Species Remediation

Supervised by: Rogers George, Friends of Iron Hill Park.

When:  Schedule to be determined

The work:  Dig up invasive plant species which are harmful to native Park species.
Dress:  Heavy work gloves including cuffs if possible; work shoes. Long sleeves & pants are recommended.
Equipment:  Long-handled spade, large or small pruning shears
Optional:  Mattock, rake, or small digger.  Bring bottled water or similar.
